WARNING!
When Running Multiple Profile Knives or Splitting Operations
Kickbacks Can Occur
There are several profiles within this catalog that
will produce multiple pieces of product in a single
pass through a machine. If you choose to run one
of these patterns, or are running multiple or small
profiles, or if you need to do a splitting operation,
there are some things you need to know before attempting
to do this work.
Michael Weinig, Inc. manufactures an anti-kickback
device to be used for such applications that should
include any multiple or splitting operations. This
type of anti-kickback device easily attaches to the
infeed end of a Weinig moulder, and is obtainable
through the Weinig Spare Parts Department at toll
free 877-548-0929. (Select option one)
Below is a list of safety rules that all operators
must know, understand and follow before attempting
to run any multiple or splitting operations.
ANTI-KICKBACK SAFETY RULES
To avoid possible injury or death from kickbacks:
1. Stay well clear of the infeed and outfeed or
discharge areas during machine operation.
2. Set all pressure, feed, control and hold down
points correctly.
3. Keep anti-kickback fingers clean, free, straight
and sharp.
4. DO NOT oil anti-kickback fingers.
5. DO NOT lift anti-kickback fingers unless arbor
is completely stopped.
6. DO NOT operate machine while wearing gloves or
loose clothing.
7. DO NOT use push sticks or feed pieces of different
dimensions or profiles from the product for which
the machine is properly set.
8. Always Lockout /Tagout before cleaning, adjusting
or servicing the machine.
If you have a moulder or equipment other than that
manufactured by Michael Weinig, Inc., and intend
to conduct multiple or splitting operations, you
should contact that equipment manufacturer for an
approved anti-kickback device for your particular
piece of equipment. If your equipment manufacturer
cannot supply you with an approved anti-kickback
device, then we strongly recommend that you DO NOT
attempt to conduct these operations.
Michael Weinig urges you to have an active safety
and training program and to make frequent reviews
of all equipment to ensure that all warning labels,
switches, guards and safety devices are in place
and are working properly. If you would like our assistance,
we will be happy to send a technician to your facility.

replacement parts you may call any member of our

(Select option one) (Carolyn Chambers, Parts Sales
Manager).
As a service to you our customer, a Moulder Safety
Package with fresh decals and labels, along with
our Safety Manual will be sent to you at your request.
You should have received a Safety Manual with your
equipment but for your convenience an additional
one can be provided. It should be an ongoing part
of your safety program to review all safety procedures
with your operators, and be sure they understand
and follow those procedures. Please keep your Moulder
Safety Manual near the machine for quick reference.
Your agreement to become familiar with this safety
manual is very much appreciated.
Michael Weinig offers operation and safety training
to all of its customers and their employees. The
machine operator should be solely responsible for
the operation of the machine and the safety of all
personnel in the area of the machine during any setup,
jogging or testing of the machine because of the
known danger that moving parts may be more exposed
or accessible at that time.
If we can be of any assistance to your company,
or if you have any questions concerning this recommendation,
please do not hesitate to contact Michael Weinig,
Inc. at 704-799-0100.
